As some of you might be aware, Samsung are rumoured to be working on another wearable smartwatch to add to their existing range of Galaxy devices; this time one with a circular display. The smartwatch is said to be codenamed Orbis and will feature a crown-shaped power button and a rotating bezel ring on top of it; there is certainly some Samsung patents that back this up.
Now, the latest bit of news comes from SamMobile, who in the past have been quite reliable when it comes to inside information – according to their various sources, Samsung’s next smartwatch will also have support for wireless charging – which in my opinion is a must have feature with upcoming wearable technology.
For anyone not in the know, the Samsung Orbis is thought to be fairly similar to Samsung’s current range of Smartwatches; therefore will run on the Tizen operating system and have features that will allow users to easily make calls, send text message and also utilize Samsung’s own S Voice service.
Although it’s not 100% known, it’s also thought that Samsung will be releasing its own SDK to allow developers to take full advantage of the features available on the Smartwatch, and it’s also thought that developers will also be able to make use of the bezel ring to interact with theirs third party applications.
Hopefully in the upcoming months, the various tech informers will be able to shed some more light on the smartwatch in the near future, but aside from what has been mentioned above, the only other bit of information we have to go on is that the Orbis smartwatch will be announced during this year’s Mobile World Congress in March.
As ever, if we hear any more information that will be of interest, you can be assured we’ll let you know.
