Not everyone is keen on purchasing a new phone and having it locked to a specific network carrier, or having to be tied down to a specific contract tariff. Therefore, no doubt a lot of people would have been frustrated when the Galaxy Nexus had its debut through phone retailer Phones4U last week, in which they were selling the new Ice Cream Sandwich handset in conjunction with a long term contract. And although the handset is now available through all the major high-street phone retailers – none are currently selling it SIM free.

So, if you’ve one of these people who have been patiently waiting to get your hands on a SIM free version of the Galaxy Nexus without any network tie-ins, you’ll be pleased to know that the online retailer Clove have just announced that they will be selling the new Galaxy Nexus SIM free, starting today, with a price of £514 including VAT.

One other thing, you may have heard over the last couple of days that there has been a reported bug with the released firmware on the Galaxy Nexus, in which the volume would randomly reduce during a call. Well, this may have had an impact on when Clove would have been able to offer the handset SIM free. However, the retailer contacted Samsung to confirm whether their stock would have been affected by this reported bug, to which the company replied saying that their stock has been through additional quality checks so therefore the problem shouldn’t be present.
