The informative Sky News app for Android devices has been given an overhaul, with a stylish visual revamp and of particular interest to us gadget fans – an all new dedicated technology news section.
The tabs and swipe interface means that news relevant to us can be quickly and easily obtained with a movement of the finger on an Android device’s touchscreen. It also means that we can filter through the showbiz gossip and political affairs to the more important topics of sport, tech and “strange news”. The vast range of subjects all feature photo and video content, with galleries appearing with the text based articles.
The Android version of the Sky News app is brought up to speed with its Apple iOS counterpart in this latest revision with streaming of live blogs and news coverage with graphic interactive features. Thinking back to the footage of those August riots, – much of which was caught on camera phone – one of the app’s key upgrades offers users the chance to “change” the news by uploading their own photos and videos which could then appear on the app or on live breaking news reports.
Smartphone and tablet owners running Android version 2.1 (Eclair) up to the current standard of version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich can download or update the free and handy Sky News app now from the Google Play store.
Sky Sports has a dedicated news app which recently scored big at the Carphone Warehouse awards. Read all about it in Gadget Helpline’s coverage – Here.
