Sony has released another minor firmware update for the PS4 that will be automatically landing on any connected consoles over the next few days.
The 1.62 firmware update went live yesterday, and is just a minor update for all PS4 devices. Sony states that the 1.62 firmware’s main purpose is such: “Image quality for some applications has been improved”.
Other than that, the 336MB download is said to improve software operation quality and not a lot else. There are no new features to note, so it looks to be a ‘fix and improve’ update.
Both Microsoft and Sony have put out big software updates with their respective next generation consoles recently. With both still being very immature products in the market we can expect many more updates over the course of the first year, with the key aim being to make the user experience as good as possible.
Sony and Microsoft now have the unenviable task of making their newer consoles operate similarly, but consistently better than their respective predecessors, which have both gained huge followings.
Gamers who are online with their PS4 will be getting the 1.62 update automatically over the next few days, or if you want to do it manually you can visit the Sony System Updates page for help.
