Sony Officially Announces New A37 and NEX-F3 Cameras in the UK

[tab name=’News’]

They both leaked earlier in the week online, but as expected Sony has now made them official: The A37 SLT and the NEX-F3 CSC.

Sony launches the NEX-F3 as an entry-level model in its range of Compact System Cameras. It features the same interchangeable lens system as its siblings, so you’ll be able to chop and change lenses depending on what you want to shoot and how you want to shoot it.

The NEX-F3 also features the same APS-C 16.1-megapixel sensor as the other NEX cameras in the range, and as standard comes with an 18-55m lens. As leaked earlier in the week, the LCD screen on the back of the camera can tilt up to 180-degrees, so if you really wanted to you could take the perfect self-portrait.

Video recording should be decent at 1080p Full HD at 24 frames per second, while individual image shooting should be pretty quick thanks to a shutter speed of 1/4000 and ISO ranging up to 16,000.

Unfortunately for some reason the NEX-F3 doesn’t charge via the mains, instead taking 5 hours to fully charge up via a Micro USB cable which can be connected to your PC, Mac or Laptop.

Joining the NEX-F3 in the UK in the next few months is the new A37 – an entry-level SLT (Single Lens Translucent) camera. It features the same 16.1-megapixel APS-C sensor as mentioned above, and comes with an 18-55mm lens, which can of course be changed.

It shares many of the features of the NEX-F3, such as an ISO range up to 16,000 and Full HD 1080p video recording at 24 fps. However, the A37 will also do Full HD video at 60fps if you so require it.

A tilting 2.7-inch LCD display will make viewing back your shots easier even in high sunlight, while a 15-point autofocus system should make quick shots easy for beginners.

The NEX-F3 will launch in June priced at around £500, coming in white, black and silver. The A37 SLT will launch in July priced at around £530.
