Tesco has announced it will be releasing its second Android tablet and the Hudl 2 will go on sale in store and online next Thursday, October the 9th.
It doesn’t seem so long ago that the supermarket chain released the budget-friendly Hudl for a modest price of £119 but in fact it was way back in September 2013. Keeping in sync with the big brands, with the tech trend of annually upgrading products, the Hudl 2 is released next week (just in time for Christmas no less) and will cost slightly more at £129 and bring up to date no frills Android functionality in hope of reaching the successes its top selling predecessor which is now well over 750,000 units sold.
A new larger screen will be on offer with the Hudl 2 which measures up at 8.3-inches and pack a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution (previous gen screen featured a 7-inch touchscreen) and is powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.83GHz running all the Android 4.4.2 KitKat goodness. A hype video from Tesco Technology boasts Google Play certification, smooth running of BBC iPlayer and game play.
Other features of the second generation Hudl include 16GB of available storage and chance to double it again with SD card support and upgraded cameras offer 5-megapixels from the rear facing camera and 1.2-megapixel from the front facing camera. The device also comes with dual band WiFi and Dolby speakers with features supported by an 8 hour battery life between charges.
As well as the specs, there’s a range of colourful aesthetic options when choosing your cheap and cheerful new tablet. A selection of colours will be available with funky flavours including: Jazzy Blue, Zesty Orange, Slate Black, Rocket Red, Tropical Turquoise, Dreamy White, Perky Purple and Bubblegum Pink – and along with tablet colours there’s also four cases to pick from if you want to keep the tablet well protected, starting at £10.
Tesco is also using its resources as a supermarket to throw in some added incentives to sweeten the Hudl 2 deal including £10 off F&F clothing goods when spending £50, £10 off Tesco Direct goods when spending £50, £15 off Tesco.com orders when spending £60, 10 4” x 6” photo prints free when buying 50 at Tesco Photo and £25 credit on Tesco’s own streaming service Blinkbox.
The Tesco Hudl goes on sale next Thursday costing £129.
