Last week Google unleashed its next generation Android 4.4 KitKat software to the world on its new flagship Nexus 5 handset. Not long after this HTC came out strong and assured all of its HTC One customers that its flagship Android running smartphone would be getting the 4.4 update within 90 days.
The only problem with their statement is that in the UK and Europe we don’t even have the previous version of the Android OS, the Jelly Bean 4.3 update. Well it appears that Google and HTC have been working on this as the previous Jelly Bean update is currently arriving on HTC One handsets across the UK and Europe.
This means that users will be getting the Android 4.3 software, complete with the new Sense 5.5 UI on their handsets over the next few weeks.
The rollout reportedly started on October 24th in Europe but today has been the first sign that the update is landing on UK shores.
HTC Sense 5.5 and Android 4.3 has already been available on the newer (and larger) HTC One Max smartphone and the UI brings changes to the HTC BlinkFeed software, an update to the video highlights and improvement to the Gallery app.
Some handsets across Europe have been getting the Android 4.3 update over the past few weeks but not the Sense 5.5 user interface. Users who are receiving the update in the UK though are reporting that the software contains both Sense and Jelly Bean.
Users who want to try and push the Android 4.3 software to their handsets can manually go through and check by going to Settings > More > About device > Software update.
