White iPod Touch release set to coincide with iPhone 5

Anyone who’s been holding off buying an iPod Touch for fear that it’ll be replaced with a model equipped with 3G needn’t worry. According to new sources close to Apple, the next iPod Touch will be almost identical in spec to its older brother, albeit with one big aesthetic change…

In a move that harks back to the look of the very first iPods, the new iPod Touch looks set to get a paintjob and will be available in white for the first time. Specs-wise the only things that will change are, according to the source, the scratch-resistance of the screen and a new light sensor. No big increase in storage, then.

Word is that this white iPod Touch will be announced at the same time as the iPhone 5, some time in October. We’ll keep you posted on the exact date. Will you be buying a new iPod Touch? Let us know on the Gadget Helpline Twitter feed.
