Windows Phone 7 Mango Update business productivity features

Microsoft’s Paul Bryan, Senior Director of Business Experiences and Product Management for Windows Phone, has taken to the web via the Windows Phone Blog to detail the business productivity features of the Mango update.

Bryan has stated that the forthcoming update (of which we will get more information at the coming press conference in New York City on May 24th) will include a number of new business features including “pinnable” email folders for quick access, conversation view in email, server search, and a new Lync application for business chat users.

Bryan also said there will be added capabilities for IT departments, including complex password support, information rights management support, and the ability to access hidden corporate Wi-Fi networks.

He also went on to state that Microsoft were “also excited about the thriving ecosystem of developers writing apps for Windows Phone. This week, we expect to exceed 16,000 apps available in the Windows Phone Marketplace. With new capabilities for developers in Mango (e.g., HTML5 support, Targeted Distribution of apps) we expect an even larger number and wider range of apps for Windows Phone in the future”

The next version of the Windows Phone OS 7.5 codenamed “Mango” is slated for release later this year.
