The annual video game wrestle-fest is almost upon us with the highly-anticipated WWE 13 unleashed here in the United Kingdom for Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 2nd, and THQ is really spoiling us for choice when it comes to pre-order packages!
The publishing tag-team partner for the WWE gaming franchise has announced that a number of retailers are stocking their own special bundles and wrestling fans can grab some exclusive items when making an early purchase of the must-have grapple game, which focuses its storyline mode on the exciting and controversial Attitude Era of the mid-90s to Early-00s.
Through Game and Gamestation (soon to become united as just Game) in-store pre-ordering customers can pick up a unique T-shirt featuring WWE 13 cover star and reigning WWE Champion CM Punk in signature pose, or if you choose to buy online with Amazon.co.uk you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the game with an Attitude Era Digital Guide with detailed tips and info on how to find all the unlockable bonuses in over 60 matches.
The guide also features a biography section exposing the stars of this age of controversy in the then-World Wrestling Federation. Those purchasing the game for Microsoft or Sony consoles at HMV ahead of release day will be rewarded with an exclusive WWE 13 “Live the Revolution” Wristband, based on the slogan for the new game.
THQ has also confirmed that popular former champ turned actor The Rock has FINALLY come back to the video game franchise and have kindly hooked us up with some screenshots showing the third generation superstar’s rise from ‘Brahma Bull’ to ‘People’s Champion’ to Hollywood action hero in the WWE ’13 game. The snaps also reveal that Rocky’s bloody Attitude Era feud with Mankind will be included in the story mode, and that the infamous ‘I Quit’ match from the Royal Rumble in 1999 will be a highlight!
The Rock will be joined by other Attitude Era alumni such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Degeneration-X and the Undertaker, who return alongside boxing icon Mike Tyson, who made his impact felt during the build-up to Wrestlemania 14 in 1998 (Tyson comes only in a special edition of the game). These legends complete a roster of playable superstars which also includes popular names of today like John Cena, Sheamus and Randy Orton when the game is released on November 2nd.
