Xbox 720 to launch as ‘Xbox Next’ in 2013

  • by

Well, well, well… Looks like we had it all wrong. While many of us have been laying in wait for Microsoft to drop the Xbox 720, the people behind the scenes have been working on the next-generation console under the name Xbox Next. That’s from the people at Develop, who claim to have seen a leaked document.

The report claims that the Xbox Next will launch in 2013 just in time for the holiday season rush. Details further to that are thin on the ground, but Develop has suggested that Lionhead Studios are working on ‘Fable Next’ for the device. EA, meanwhile, reportedly already has a rudimentary Xbox Next in their studio.

Whether this pans out to be true or not, it’s worth noting that up until its official launch, Kinect was called ‘Project Natal’, so names can come and go at Microsoft HQ. Let us know your thoughts on our comments below or via our @Gadget_Helpline Twitter page or Official Facebook group.
