Microsoft Offering Free Xbox LIVE Entertainment Weekender to Non Gold Subscribers

Got an Xbox 360 and a web connection? Don’t want to fork out for a pricey Xbox LIVE Gold account – but still want to experience the new wave of multimedia and on-demand entertainment that all your mates are bragging about? Then you’ll love what Microsoft has in store for you this weekend!

An Xbox LIVE Gold account usually costs £39.99 for a twelve month subscription, but between Thursday the 19th to Monday the 23rd of April Microsoft is having an “unlocked” weekend for all non-subscribers to sample premium paid content including music services like Last FM, video streaming apps VideoKinect and YouTube and television catch-up services such as 4oD, Demand 5 and BBC iPlayer – all at absolutely no charge.

Several apps will still remain inaccessible to non-Gold members, these including NetFlix and LoveFilm as well as services which require additional payments or subscriptions on top of the Xbox LIVE fee. But there’s still much to be enjoyed with this generous giveaway from Microsoft which can be enjoyed via your Xbox 360 consoles from tomorrow.

It was recently reported that the use of entertainment apps on the Xbox LIVE platform have overtaken multiplayer online gaming. Check out the Gadget Helpline’s coverage of this story – Here.
