YouTube Update Adds 60fps Playback and Donations

It’s been a long time since any major updates have come out for YouTube beyond cosmetic or social aspects. Although resolution quality has been given a buff of late, no real additions to the frame rate of videos found on the site.

The latest update to YouTube is going to change this – there will now be an option to use 60fps frame rates when uploading videos. Although the human eye is only capable of perceiving 32 frames per second, 60fps playback is still thought to be superior.

Also available is less demanding 48fps playback, which should be easier to render for less complex platforms. In order to enjoy this increase in framerate you will need to be viewing on 1080p resolution quality.

Community actions are also going to be augmented. Translations are now available to the average user, meaning multilinguals can submit and create their own subtitles for whichever video takes their fancy, in any language.

Also coming is a sort of tip jar, which allows viewers to donate cash money straight to the video’s creator, without any ad revenue or YouTube partnership involvement. Expect most YouTube ‘stars’ to include the begging process at the end of each video from now on.

YouTube now includes a tip jar.

Also promised are updated visuals on annotation cards as well as a selection of new user tools. The YouTube Creator Studio mobile app has also made it’s appearance for Android, which lets you examine statistics, analytics plus estimates views over time, on your mobile. It will arrive for Apple devices in ‘a week or two’ according to YouTube devs.

The update for YouTube itself will arrive as soon as possible, as websites can be update straight away at the source.
