Samsung announces Window Phones: Focus S and Focus Flash

Following our earlier poser of what’s ahead for Windows Phone 7.5 on Samsung gadgets – we’ve got a bit of an answer in the form of two new handsets announced this afternoon.

The Focus S packs single-core 1.4GHz CPU and that super clear AMOLED display in a generous 4.3” screen that only Sammy can treat us to. 4G capacity is expected as well as an 8-megapixel rear-shooter for the snap-happy and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. Just like the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Focus S will be slim but powerful at only 8.55mm.

Sibling smartphone, the Samsung Focus Flash bring the same 1.4GHz processor but downsizes the screen to a quite respectable 3.7” AMOLED with a 5-megapixel main camera onboard and we’d expect a front-facing video cam of similar quality to the Focus S to be included.

The Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash are both expected around the same time as the Windows Phone 7.5 (or ‘Mango’) update on September 15th – arriving initially on AT&T network in the United States. We await some photos and UK launch information but we’re the Gadget Helpline and we’re here to help – so we’ll keep you posted!

Samsung is said to be continuing its run of Windows Phone host handsets until then end of 2012, and rumour suggests that will be all. Read the Gadget Helpline’s coverage of this story – here.
