Google has begun its update of the Google Maps application to version 5.10.1, which will see the introduction of Navigation with improved location accuracy on the Android mobile software.
The new Navigation feature is in Beta form, but will work just like a Sat Nav (or GPS) with a voice guide directing to locations in the Places, or finding friends with the Latitude feature. The new version also irons out some of the creases, addressing some of the bugs which sometimes hinder the otherwise impressive Google Maps, which the Gadget Helpline is a firm supporter of. It’s a great bit of kit and a must have for Android owners – This probably explains why it’s usually included in the software from start-up!
If you subscribe to update notifications from Google’s app market, you’ll be prompted that your new ride awaits you. If not, or if you fancy getting to grips with Google Maps 5.10.1 right away, you can drive on over to the Android Market and pick it up from today. The good news is that the software update, as always, is absolutely free!
