[tab name=’News’]

If you’ve been debating whether to treat yourself to a new Android powered tablet device, you may want to check out what’s just been announced by NEC.

The Japanese company have unveiled two new tablets, both of a similar specification but one is aimed at the business user while the other is aimed at the general consumer. In fact, the difference between the two seems to be the software which features on the tablets. Both variants of the LifeTouch L will feature a 10.1-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800, weigh a mere 540 grams and are only 7.99mm thick.  Both will also feature a 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP4460 CPU and have Android 4.0 installed. When it comes to storage, the LifeTouch L for individuals will be available with either 16GB or 32GB of memory; however the business orientated version will only be available with 16GB of storage. Both have the same quoted battery performance which is up to 13 hours for web surfing and up to 10 hours if watching videos.

As mentioned, it would seem that the only difference between the two models is the software that comes pre-installed. The business version has security software installed which will hopefully help prevent loss of data and  track your tablet should it be stolen, it also provides secure access to corporate networks. The version that is aimed at the individual includes software designed to ensure that kids are kept safe when online.

Both variants are due to hit the market on the 5th of July, unfortunately though, NEC has yet to announce any prices.
