Nokia Lumia 900 Prices Dropped with New Windows Phone 8 Coming

[tab name=’News’]

Nokia has dealt a swift cut to the prices of its latest Nokia Lumia range of handsets in the US in light of the recent announcement of the forthcoming Windows Phone 8 OS.

Many users of the Nokia Lumia range were left feeling angry when Microsoft announced the new software update, as the Finnish firm then let loose that any users with the current flagship Nokia handsets will not be able to upgrade to the new OS due to hardware specifications.

However, our cousins in the US are now feeling the benefit of this lack of upgrade as Nokia US has slashed the prices of its Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone on contract with the AT&T network, where the device was once $99.99 and is now at a budget $49.99 price with a two-year agreement.

With the launch of the new Windows Phone 8 OS we are sure to see a larger dip in prices across the handset ranges, as anyone who is currently sporting the Microsoft OS will not be able to upgrade so new pricing will have to be put in place for the now outdated handsets.

Currently there is no word on pricing drops for Nokia and its handset range in the UK or Europe, but with the Windows 8 launch coming in October with the Phone OS to come shortly afterwards, we will be sure to see some discounts on the handsets to try and move stock.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is a great smartphone that features a 4.3” display and Windows Phone 7.5 running off a 1.4GHz Qualcomm CPU with a respectable 8GB of on-board RAM plus an improved camera with HD video recording and a battery capacity over its Lumia 800 sibling.
