Doctor Who TARDIS Appears on Google Maps – Take a Tour in Street View!

  • by

After recently offering a tour of Harry Potter shopping district Diagon Alley through its Maps and Street View service, fun loving web giant Google has worked its magic again, locating the Doctor’s TARDIS on Earl’s Court Road, London!

Not only has Google been able to track down the elusive and iconic blue Police Box as featured in 50 years of BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, but if you visit this very special Street View (at this link) and look on the road next to the Doctor’s cleverly disguised spaceship you will notice one of the direction arrows is slightly different from normal. To help you out, it’s the double arrow pointing right at the TARDIS (spoilers!)

This is a secret button which will whisk you inside the TARDIS where you can explore the control room in full 360 degree panoramic view with immense close-up details of the buttons, switches and gadgets used to navigate time and space. The TARDIS interior is based on the current version of the telly Time Lord’s vessel as piloted by the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith in the most recent adventures and as it will be seen again in the long-awaited 50th Anniversary episode airing on November 23rd in 2D and 3D (reported to be the last 3D programme the Beeb will air for 3 years.)

Google has always proven it knows how to please the nerd fan base be it with sneakily hidden ‘Easter Eggs’ like the recent throwback to Atari Breakout or with those cool Google Doodles which have featured sci-fi literary legends such as Douglas Adams. Gadget Helpline thinks today’s Doctor Who themed TARDIS tour is really out of this world and will be a hard one to top!
