Asus teases us with new Eee Pad Transformer Tablet 2 promo video

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tablet has been without a shadow of a doubt the most successful Android Honeycomb tablet to date, so naturally we’re extremely excited to learn about a successor to the device.

Asus has teased us with a brand new promotional video for the second Transformer Tablet, which gives us a pretty good look at some of the design features including what looks to be a completely redesigned keyboard dock.

In the video, entitled “The next Transformation”, we catch a glimpse of the tablet’s back panel which appears to be finished in a sleek silvery metal which has a swirled effect all over. In this shot we can also see a rear camera with LED flash, though as yet we’ve no idea what sort of quality the camera will offer.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will also spot a quick flash of the Transformer 2’s side profile, and it looks to be very, very thin. We’re pretty sure it features a slightly tapered design too, getting thinner from top to bottom – a little like the Sony S Tablet, only much thinner.

Finally, the video shows us that that the Transformer 2 will again feature a dockable keyboard which effectively turns the Tablet into a netbook – hence the Transformer name. From the video we can tell that Asus have redesigned the keyboard to offer a new more streamlined dock position.

The Transformer Tablet appears to dock onto the back edge of the keyboard, which gives an overall look that is much more akin to a netbook than the original Transformer and keyboard dock did.

We can also tell that the keyboard will feature a Macbook Pro-style chicklet QWERTY keyboard, with keys finished in a glossy black. There’s also a USB port that can be spotted on the right hand side of the keyboard in the video.

That’s all we can ascertain from the very short 22 second video, though it has certainly got our Gadget pulse racing. We have a strong feeling that the Asus Transformer Tablet 2 will run the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich software which is optimised for both Tablets and Smartphones.
