Currys Confirms Kindle Fire & Apple ‘Mystery’ Product as Top Gifts This Christmas

It would seem as though UK tech retailer Currys is tired of waiting for news of the Kindle Fire’s arrival as the rest of us and has thrown up its own speculation regarding the Amazon multimedia tablet – and possibly Apple’s ‘iPad Mini’ – both of which appear on their Top Ten list of must have gadgets this Christmas.

Appearing at sixth place on the list Amazon’s 7-inch full colour tablet appears as “Kindle Fire” – however, to be picky we’re hoping this actually refers to the recently announced second generation model the Kindle Fire 2 which is rumoured for an August release and promises to improve on last year’s model in both hardware specs and visuals, delivering apps for games, movies, books and more through the Amazon Appstore which has now arrived her. This would more than make up for the absence of the original Kindle Fire which hit the States only back in November 2011.

Apple makes one of its two appearances in the Top Ten at fourth place and the Curry and PC World list offers the vague title ‘Mystery Product’ to identify what this one could be. Could we be expecting the next iPhone (iPhone 5) to make it into our stocking this year – or will it be the iPad Mini which is surrounded by much rumour at the moment suggesting that production of a 7.85-inch is well under way and set to step out this October.

Tablet tech dominates the list with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean running Google Nexus 7 also making an appearance and the unofficial announcement of both of these new market contenders is pretty exciting stuff but it’s interesting to note that last season’s classic e-book reader Kindle comes in second place in the Top Ten – bested only by Apple’s third gen tablet – the ‘new’ iPad which will be pretty well travelled come this Christmas.
