Daredevil Arrives on Netflix – Full First Season Streaming Now!

We knew today was “DD-Day” – that’s the day Daredevil strikes down on streaming service Netflix – but we never expected that the entire first season of this exclusive series would be available from the get go!

That’s right, The Man Without Fear is finally loose and when we checked Netflix UK this morning Daredevil was already listed and instead of the one-a-week format employed for other Netflix exclusive shows like From Dusk Till Dawn and Better Call Saul, all 13 episodes of this comic book adaptation is ready to stream right now.

The Netflix show will take reference from the Daredevil comic series which started in 1964 as the co-creation of Stan Lee and Bill Everett and after appearing onscreen alongside David (Bruce) Banner in 1989’s The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, the Hell’s Kitchen hero got his own movie in 2003, which was panned by critics and fans who have been eagerly awaiting justice ever since.

Taking on the billy club from previous Daredevil Ben Affleck is British actor Charlie Cox (best known for Boardwalk Empire) who plays Matt Murdock, a lawyer blinded by radioactive chemicals which enhance all other senses, enabling him to fight criminals. The most notorious of Daredevil’s foes is crime boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin who is key villain of the Netflix series and is played by the superb Vincent D’Onofrio. True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll also introduces a potential love interest for Murdock with the character Karen Page, who has been rewritten as a feistier and more aggressive modern woman rather than the innocent girl remembered in the 60s/70s comics.

As for famous horned costume, which takes on character of its own throughout the Daredevil comics, Netflix revealed the new final look ahead of the show’s launch and we have to say it’s not quite what we expected and quite a change from the leathery number last worn by Affleck. It’s more tactical and military than the rags we envisioned but definitely see the outfit growing on us as the series develops. And Double D’s new threads do look like they would look the part next to the similarly modernised uniforms worn by other on-screen Marvel heroes such as Captain America – which is kind of the point of the reboot.

The Daredevil series is the first of five original series picked up by Netflix which will be based on some of Marvel Comics more gritty characters but retelling their origins and resetting them within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that other characters Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist will all soon come to life on Netflix and exist in the same reality as the big screen Avengers and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show.

The first season of Daredevil is available for streaming in its entirety on Netflix UK and US and most other regions from today. It’s going to be a long night in Hell’s Kitchen!
