EE 4G signal now covers half of the UK

Everything Everywhere’s 4G network EE is now covering over 50% of the UK in gloriously speedy 4G signal. In just 5 months the UK’s newest network has launched its 4G service and expanded it at an alarming rate, which now means that over half of the UK has access to the super-fast 4G.

The network announced today that it is now covering 50 UK towns which means that half of the population now has access to the 4G/LTE service.

Thirteen more towns are activated today by the network, which takes the numbers up to 50 towns, cities and surrounding areas, and EE had previously stated that they would be in 80% of the UK by June with another 30 towns and cities due to go live by then.

Today’s 4G enabled locations are:

  • Bradford
  • Bingley
  • Doncaster
  • Dudley
  • Harpenden
  • Leicester
  • Lichfield
  • Loughborough
  • Luton
  • Reading
  • Shipley
  • St Albans
  • West Bromwich

EE’s biggest challenge is still incoming as its network rivals O2, Vodafone and Three have all now secured their own 4G/LTE services thank to the spectrum auction now ending, and all three networks will be launching their own competitive services in the next 6 months.

That will be the true test of EE’s powers and then we will be able to see if there near year-long head start will be worth its while!
