Gadget HELP! – HTC Desire HD setting up a Non Specific Email Account

Today we have received a call where one of our dedicated agents provided support on an Android HTC Desire HD setting up a Non Specific Email account. For this our agent used:

Query: Customer had a HTC Desire HD and wanted help setting up a Non Specific (non-specific means any other account other than Gmail or Exchange ActiveSync i.e. Yahoo or Hotmail) Email Account .

Guide: Generic non-specific Email setup

Note: You will need the SMTP or POP3 enabled on your email account and the settings for this setup. For some SMTP/POP3 settings click Here>> .

  1. Touch the MENU key
  2. Touch All apps
  3. Scroll to and touch Mail
  4. Touch the mail provider you want (e.g. Other POP3/IMAP)
  5. Touch Email address, enter your account email address
  6. Touch Password, enter your email account password
  7. Touch Next
  8. Scroll to and touch the drop-down arrow below Protocol
  9. Touch the option you want (e.g. POP)
  10. Scroll to and touch the field below POP server, enter your incoming mail server address
  11. Touch the drop-down arrow next to Security type
  12. Touch the setting you require (e.g. SSL)
  13. Scroll to and touch the field under Server port, enter the server port number
  14. Touch Next
  15. Touch the field under SMTP server, enter your outgoing mail server address
  16. Scroll to and touch the drop-down arrow below Security type
  17. Touch the setting you require (e.g. SSL)
  18. Scroll to and touch the field under Server port, enter the server port number
  19. Touch Next
  20. Touch Finish setup.

This guide can also be used to on most Android operating system running devices including HTC Desire, HTC Legend, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Samsung Galaxy S i900.
