New Super Mario Bros. 2 is warping its way onto Nintendo 3DS on August 17th and UK retailers GAME and sibling store Gamestation are really getting behind the gold rush by announcing pre-ordering and a bonus gift – a collectable Gold Coin case to keep our valuable games in!
When Nintendo of America Boss Reggie Fils-Aime introduced us to New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the handheld 3DS console at the E3 Expo he told us that this one was “all about the gold” – and he wasn’t lying!
Since the announcement of the sequel to the popular 2006 DS title we’ve seen screenshots and footage of the gilded gameplay and seen how NSMB2 will be rich with coins based challenges and new abilities including a gold-plated and gold block-headed Mario – even familiar bad guys like the Goombas and Koopa Troopers pop up with a shiny new armour and the value of taking these guys out increases with their golden coating.
This game will be the first Nintendo 3DS title to offer paid downloadable content.
The collectable Gold Coin case – which holds just one game and comes with attachable wrist strap – is a free bonus gift exclusively through GAME and Gamestation is up for grabs for gamers ordering their copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 early. It’s based on the shape of the iconic coins which have been familiar with Nintendo gamers for decades, and now you can actually own one by ordering the game for £29.99 – and postage won’t cost you a penny!
Nintendo’s mascot plumber will also appear this year on the new “living room revolution” – the Wii U – in New Super Mario Bros. U!
