Fan’s of the Call of Duty franchise who are currently racking up their kill streaks and calling in the Choppas on MW3 will be pleased today as Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that the classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map “Terminal” is being released for the latest installment of the game.

Owners of Modern Warfare 3 will be able to get their hands on the “Classic” map (which was originally part of its predecessor’s standard maps) from Tuesday July 17th for Xbox 360 users, and as with all of MW3’s downloads it will initially be exclusive to Xbox 360 Elite Package subscribers.

Happily enough though, the map will be available for non-subscribers on the Xbox just the next day, so the wait won’t be that excruciating. MW2 players can look forward to hiding inside the aeroplane, visiting the burger bar or daring to run down the dreaded hallway of death.

Terminal was originally part of the standard Modern Warfare 2 game and was based on the infamous “No Russian” mission that caused much controversy. The mission itself was optional for gamers playing the story mode and saw you take control of a Russian terrorist and slaughter innocent airport customers.

With the next installment of the Call of Duty Franchise due in November, Modern Warfare 3 is reaching the end of its DLC lifetime so a classic throwback map is a nice touch.

Additionally a few weeks ago Activision announced that for customers who pre-order Black Ops 2 they will get a bonus map of an updated version of the original’s ‘Nuketown’ multiplayer map.

Terminal will be released on the Xbox 360 as a free download to Elite and non-subscription customers on the 17th and 18th of July with release dates for PlayStation 3 and PC to be announced in due course.
