Android Honeycomb on the HTC Flyer?

Do you have a HTC Flyer? Would you like to taste a little of that sweet Honeycomb goodness running through its veins? Well we are very nearly there! And if you have a 32GB 3G Flyer there are ways of gettingit already.

However, this is not for the faint hearted and I would say there should probably be a “do not try this at home” warning attached to the thread over at XDA-developers.

What am I talking about you must be thinking, have I gone mad? I like to think we are all a little mad, but in this instance no I have not, the gods of developers over at XDA have gotten their hands on a leaked RUU (Rom Update Utility) which contains a little Honeycomb ROM for the HTC flyer, and have already got it working on the 32GB 3G version of the device.

The method of booting is very advanced, and should definitely not, I repeat not, be tried by a novice user. However, the Devs at XDA are in the process of making this a lot easier to do and the process should shortly become much easier to perform.

As always, the process of installing custom, leaked software from the internet may void your warranty, but in most cases (when you know what you are doing) it will do no harm to your device and more than likely allow it to run to its full potential.

XDA-developers is a busy place for HTC owners at the minute, with HTC Sense 3.5 being ported to a number of different devices, now including the Evo 4G over in America and as I wrote yesterday the Desire HD and Desire S.

The HTC Flyer recently got a hefty price cut of around £150 in stores such as Currys and Dixons across the UK, and if we’re soon going to be able to turn it into an Android Honeycomb tablet it could be a great bargain.
