HTC in the US has announced a whole raft of Android ICS information for the American phone market, and have also stated that all of the HTC phones that will be getting Android 4.0 ICS will have the update by the end of August.
They took to Facebook page via their support section to announce that all of the previously confirmed phones that will be getting ICS will receive it by the end of the month, and that a few of the questionable devices will would also be updated.
The Desire S and the Thunderbolt are two of the new devices to be confirmed to get the ICS update after many of our American cousins feared the Thunderbolt would not receive the update, much like its UK equivalent the Desire HD.
The following handsets in the US will receive the update:
- DROID Incredible 2
- HTC Amaze 4G
- HTC Desire S
- HTC EVO 3D
- HTC EVO 4G+
- HTC EVO Design 4G
- HTC Incredible S
- HTC Sensation
- HTC Sensation 4G
- HTC Sensation XE
- HTC Sensation XL
- HTC Rezound
- HTC Rhyme
- HTC Thunderbolt
- HTC Velocity 4G
- HTC Vivid
Some, if not most, of the phones above have a UK equivalent (many will be the Desire HD) but this bodes well for us in the UK to see the update on all of our handsets as soon as possible. With HTC still struggling to get its range of handsets up to ICS we don’t see the jump to the latest Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean coming any time soon.
