It looks as though HTC have bigger plans for their recent Beats Audio acquisition, expanding onto their range of Windows Phone smartphones.
Speaking to Slashgear today at a HTC event, a spokesperson for the company confirmed that they were planning to implement Beats Audio software, headphones and branding into future Windows Phones, just as they have already done with some Android phones such as the HTC Bass and Sensation XE.
When asked about the possibility of Beats Audio on Windows Phones from HTC, the spokesperson said, “we’re working with Beats to enable that”.
HTC bought a rather large stake ($300 million worth) in sound experts Beats Audio back in August, and have since announced theSensation XE with Beats Audio officially, with another Android device called the HTC Bass rumoured to be announced very soon.
The Taiwanese manufacturer recently announced two brand new smartphones that will run the newest version of Windows Phone 7, Mango, the HTC Radar and the HTC TITAN. The HTC TITAN features a massive 4.7-inch display while the Radar has a 3.8-inch screen coupled with mid-range specifications.
From what we know of HTC’s first official Beats Audio smartphone, the Sensation XE, the Beats Audio branding brings premium in-ear Beats Audio headphones and a DSP chip (digital signal processor), which works with specially designed Beats Audio software on the phone to optimise sound quality as soon as the pair of Beats Audio headphones are plugged in.
There’s currently no word on when we can expect to see Windows Phones with Beats Audio from HTC, though with them just releasing two brand new Windows Phones, we won’t expect to see anything before the end of the year.
