Kingdom Hearts III coming to Xbox One confirms Square Enix

After yesterday’s reveal at the PS3 E3 conference, Square Enix has now confirmed that the next instalment in the Kingdom Hearts franchise of games, Kingdom Hearts 3 (III), will be coming to the Xbox One in 2014 as well as the PS4.

The game was announced during Sony’s conference where Square Enix also revealed footage and news of the incoming Final Fantasy XV (formerly ‘Final Fantasy Verses XIII’, which has now been re-named as FF 15) game, which will be coming exclusively to the PS3 and PS4. Many assumed that Kingdom Hearts, which was teased after FF 15, would also be an exclusive game to Sony.

However, yesterday at its Final Fantasy spotlight panel Square Enix did confirm that Kingdom Hearts III will be coming to Xbox One as well as the PS4. This will undoubtedly cause a stir amongst PlayStation fan boys as this will then make KH3 the first Kingdom Hearts game to appear on an Xbox console.

Reasoning behind the cross platform decision is most probably money, as Square Enix has recently posted considerable losses and will be looking to get its hot properties available to as many customers as possible to maximize revenue.

It’s a sensible move and sure to please all the old Kingdom Hearts fans who are looking at the Xbox One, or even those who haven’t yet decided which next-gen console to buy. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be the first official sequel to the previous Kingdom Hearts 2, which was released in 2006, so there has been a long wait for fans.

Has the news of KH3 coming to Xbox One swayed your next-gen console decision?
