With most of the major Android smartphone manufacturers already outing their plans to update the operating system to the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update, Motorola has finally come to the dairy-themed party with a full announcement of which of its handsets will be updated and when.
Motorola has offered a full run down of ICS updates on the Motorola blog and it features listings on expected updates for devices such as the Motorola Xoom, Motorola Xoom 2 Motorola Razr and Razr Maxx.
The Android 4.0 update will be coming first to the Motorola RAZR and the Motorola XOOM in the second quarter of 2012 (so anytime from now until the end of June) and with other Moto devices such as the Xoom 2 and the XOOM 2 Media Edition getting it at the beginning of Q3 (July time) 2012.
Motorola has recently stated: “we want the new release to improve our devices. If we determine that can’t be done – well then, we’re not able to upgrade that particular device.”
The update list also states all of the handsets that will not be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update, which includes some of the older or mid-range Moto phones such as the Motorola Defy+, Defy Mini, Motoluxe and Milestone 2.
