This latest news will no doubt please a lot of dedicated Gmail users who have been probably dreaming about this for a long time.
If you have an iPhone and are also a Gmail user, you’ll no doubt know that at the moment Gmail is currently a accessible on the iPhone via a web app or using the iPhone Mail app. However, it would seem that Google have finally decided to develop a full native app for users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in order to get the full Gmail experience.
The news comes from MG Siegler of TechCrunch who says the app has already been developed and submitted to Apple for approval. If approved, the App is expected to bring all the usual features that Android users can benefit from at the moment including priority inbox and one click starring of messages.
Although Google have had a web optimised version of Gmail for iPhone users, the big deal about the new native Gmail app is the inclusion of Push email, something that currently the iPhone Mail app (well without a hack) nor web version is able to do.
Although it’s thought that the Gmail app has already been submitted to Apple for approval, there has been no official word from Google (no surprise really). Hopefully though, we might get some sort of acknowledgement from Google once the App has been approved (fingers crossed).
