Could a true successor to Super Mario Bros 3 be on its way? It’s just ben noted that Nintendo has registered the web domain supermario4.com sparking speculation that the iconic plumber could return to his roots – most likely in a new 3DS title.
The registering of a Super Mario 4 domain backs Nintendo Boss Iwata Satoru, who promised a new Super Mario adventure for the three dimensional portable back in January and suggested that this would come in the traditional side-scroller format of the original trilogy, as well as Super Mario World and more recently New Super Mario for the handheld and first generation Wii.
And as for the next Wii, the Wii U – we’ve seen Super Mario in action alongside our created avatars in New Super Mario Mii which was teased at last year’s E3 conference. We don’t reckon Nintendo would saturate its home console market with the mascot and by the time June rolls around and the entertainment and gaming show hits Los Angeles gamers will be ready for their next fix of Super Mario on 3DS, a year after Super Mario Land 3D was announced for the handheld.
