O2 comes top in broadband study

According to a report by Ofcom, O2 broadband loads webpages quicker than any other ISP in the UK.

Ofcom’s research resulted in the regulator carrying out 4.2 million speed tests across the country and found that the average download speed in the UK was 1.5Mpbs and in areas with better coverage it upped to 2.1Mbps.

The research found that O2 had the best download average with between 2.5 and 3Mbps, and unfortunately for Orange they came out bottom of the list with an average of between 1 and 1.5Mpbs.

Derek McManus, chief technology officer at O2 said “Our customers are seeing the benefit from the huge investment we have made in our network. We always aim to deliver the best network experience for our customers and these results are another indicator that we are doing just that.”

Vodafone was a close second in the list, followed by 3 and then T-mobile. If you’re interested to view information from the research, it’s available for you to download now from the Ofcom website.
