Qualcomm has confirmed the speculation that the company will indeed be supplying the future generation of Windows Phone 7 devices with its Snapdragon CPU.
Those in the know may have already heard rumours that ST-Ericsson was making a move to supply their own dual-core CPUs to be used in the new Nokia WP7 devices, but Qualcomm soon squashed that rumour and reasserted its position in the market.
Shortly after the Mango announcement from Microsoft, Qualcomm’s executive vice president, Steve Mollenkopf said “Qualcomm is excited about the next Windows Phone Mango release” and also that the company will “leverage the synergy of our highly integrated second generation Snapdragon solution and Microsoft’s Windows Phone software”.
