Raising Hope Becomes First TV Show to Air Season Premiere on Twitter

Today sees the reveal of a brand new Myspace which will hit web browsers very soon and we can surely expect the big players of the social internet to be upping their game to stay socially savvy. With this in mind, it’s interesting to note that micro-blog and celeb-stalking site Twitter is currently airing its first full length premiere  of a television show.

The show is Raising Hope, a socially trending American sitcom which centres on the family of a young father raising his baby daughter who (you guessed it) is named Hope. The show airs on the Fox network in the United States and was picked up by UK broadcaster Sky when it was launched in 2010. It’s about to kick off its third season on October 2nd, but tweeting fans of the show can get early access to the half hour premiere episode as an ad-free streaming video from now until the 27th of September on the Raising Hope Twitter page (@RaisingHopeFox).

This is the very first time a full TV show has gotten a premiere showing through Twitter and we think it’s a smart move to capitalise on the trending and retweeting habits of the over 500 million active users. We do however hope that other networks pick up on this and we get Gadget Helpline favourites such as The Walking Dead and Dexter embracing social media in this way!
