Samsung Galaxy Nexus UK launch date revealed: 17th November

We now know almost everything there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone, though the only thing missing was an exact release date.

Thankfully, top notch UK retailer Clove Technology has answered our prayers and confirmed a UK release date. Jot it down in your calendars, Android fans, as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is landing on November 17th.

Google has chosen Samsung to create the first smartphone to run their newest version of Android software, Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). The latest software aims to merge Android smartphones and tablets together, as it works seamlessly on both types of device.

Ice Cream Sandwich is optimised for devices with High Definition screens with a high resolution, and Samsung have chosen the perfect screen for this smartphone to compliment that. The Galaxy Nexus features a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, which will display images at a HD resolution of 720p.

The Galaxy Nexus is a powerful smartphone too, with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM at its core. There are two versions of the phone available – 16 and 32GB – though currently Clove believes that UK customers will only be able to buy the 16GB version. The phone has no Micro SD card slot for expanding the memory, so be cautious when ordering if you have a lot of music, photos and videos to store!

The phone also has a 5-Megapixel rear camera with LED flash which is capable of capturing Full HD 1080p video. There is also a 1.3-Megapixel front-facing camera which can be used for video calling with apps such as Skype and Fring.

Connectivity is good for the Galaxy Nexus, with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC (Near Field Communications) chips inside. The phone is also capable of Wi-Fi Direct – a feature which lets you instantly connect your phone to other Wi-Fi devices.

Clove Technology are already taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and we’re told that they’re flooding in fast, so be quick if you want to receive yours as soon as possible!
