Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs leak online – 5.9-inch screen and 8 core processor?

With the S4 landing last Friday it’s time to turn our attention to Samsung’s other big smartphone (really big!), the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which we are expecting to land later on in 2013. Specifications for the phone have landed online courtesy of those informed chaps at SamMobile, who claim that a “trusted inside source” has let slip some key Note 3 details.

The source reveals that the Galaxy Note 3 (also set to step away from roman numerals) will come with Samsung’s octa-core processor (eight-core) and a big 3GB of RAM to boot. Now the Galaxy S4 was also released in some territories with the 8 core processor, but for us in the UK we had to settle for a quad core 1.6GHz processor instead, so we could see the same thing happen when the Note 3 does launch.

This power is to feed the reported 5.99-inch Full HD display and 13MP camera on the back of the phone, plus the stylus functionality that gives the Note range its name. Internally it’s just speculation but with Google expected to launch Key Lime Pie Android 5.0 next month the Note 3 could be the handset to run the latest Android OS.

The report also states that the Note 3 will look more like the incoming Galaxy Mega from Samsung and not like a larger version of the S4 (that design will be copied for the Galaxy Ace 3 and S4 Mini handsets), although it will feature a thinner bezel, we’re told.

Samsung has a habit of really upping the specifications on each Galaxy Note handset and with the Galaxy Note 2’s release getting the device crowned the most powerful smartphone, Samsung is probably keen to continue on with its one-upmanship.

The S4 is selling like mad at the moment (and thus leading to several delays) and the Galaxy Note 2 is still a super popular handset so we may still have to wait till August time to get our hands on the next Galaxy Note device, but we are expecting an announcement towards the IFA 2013 event in Berlin.
