Rumours of a rough and ready variant on the Samsung Galaxy S4 have been around for a little while now, but evidence of its existence is yet to be made official by its secretive South Korean manufacturer. That’s not stopped GSM Arena letting slip a series of photos today of what could turn out to be the elusive Galaxy S4 Active.
Featuring a red and black casing, with what appears to be a rubberised or hardened backing, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (Model GT-i9295) pictured is alleged to feature the same specs as its gentler sibling, which was released on April 26th as the essential ‘Life Companion’.
This means a comparable 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 processor with up to date Android Jelly Bean as OS of choice. The main difference in the Active version will be the 5 inch Super AMOLED display which will be toughened and resistant to dust and water.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active today takes a step out of the rumour mill which also includes Google, Zoom, Mini and Mega variants on the latest and greatest flagship smartphone. We await the official word on all of these, but these leaked snaps offer a little something to keep S4 season rolling along.
