Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite officially announced with pictures

After appearing earlier this week from Poland in leaked diagrams, a new lesser-spec variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has been now been confirmed and official pictures have been released by the Korean tech manufacturer.

It’s called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite but don’t let the name fool you, this tablet sizes up to its sibling with a seven inch touchscreen display running Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean. Again trascending the ‘Lite’ name, Samsung’s new tab is chunkier and heavier than the preceding model and weighs in at 310g. The Lite in the title really only comes into play when you view the specifications.

These specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor which lacks the kick of the full fat Tab 3 but will offer up some respectable potential for first time tablet owners. There is an internal storage capacity of just 8GB with expansion to 32GB possible via the micro SD slot and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite comes equipped with a 3,600 mAh battery which appears lowly to gadget aficionados, but this tablet is intended for non-demanding tech users.

The secret was supposed to stay under wraps until Samsung’s appearance at the Mobile World Congress next month so there is currently no release date in place for the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite’s arrival in the UK. The tablet is expected to price at around a budget friendly £100 for a Wi-Fi version and £160 for Wi-Fi and 3G model in both in a choice of white or black casing.
