Samsung has just unveiled a brand new addition to its popular Ultrabook range – the Series 5.
The new model will be available in a few different packages, which includes a 13-inch model as well as a 14-inch one.
The specs will vary depending on which version you go for. The 14-inch model can have up to 1TB of storage, while you’ll be able to have up to 500GB on the 13-inch version. Alternatively, if you’re more of a fan of SSD, you can choose to opt for a 128GB drive instead. Also, if RAM is important, you can optionally choose to have up to 8GB, which should hopefully fulfil your needs. The 14-inch model will also feature AMD graphics, specifically the Radeon HD7550M GPU.
Of the two, the 14-inch model is the larger being 20.9mm, and although Samsung are calling this an Ultrabook, by Intel’s definition, an Ultrabook can be no thicker than 20.3mm. However, when it comes to the 13-inch model, it’s certainly within the threshold being 14.9mm thin.
If you decide to opt for the SSD, the performance is quite impressive – Samsung say that it takes a mere 7 seconds to resume from hibernation, and less than 2 seconds in sleep mode.
The new Series 5 is due to launch in Korea at the end of the month, with prices starting at $1,124 to $1,298 for the 13-inch model, and the 14-inch will cost from $1,168 up to $1,342. Unfortunately, Samsung has not announced any launch plans for the rest of the world. Hopefully they will soon though.
