Sony Mobile’s Italian Facebook Page has confirmed an August arrival for the current Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software on the Xperia P smartphone.
Replying to a page liker’s comment asking when ICS would be delivered on the “P”, the Sony Mobile IT admin replied (translated) “software for ICS is planned for early August”. The update’s appearance in Italy should also indicate that the rest of Europe including the UK should get theirs around the same time.
The entry model Xperia P will be the next in line for the improved and slick new operating system which hit the superior Xperia S on June 21st and will come pre-loaded on the budget friendly Xperia Miro.
A recap of the Xperia P’s respectable specification will tell you that the smartphone’s 4” display is promised to be Sony’s brightest to date, boasting a 960 x 540 pixel resolution. There’s a 1GHz dual-core motor running the device which is shared by the Xperia U, and the system is supported by a generous 1GB of RAM with 16GB of expandable storage and an 8-megapixel camera.
