Sony’s 5-inch Yuga smartphone images leaked online (again!)

Sony’s forthcoming smartphone, codenamed the Sony Yuga, has once again hit the leaked list thanks to another leak from notorious Russian website Mobile-Review, who not only claim to have seen the phone but they have posted some images of the Yuga online.

The Yuga is looking set to be the next flagship Android device to go on sale in from Sony in 2013, and with images being leaked online it’s looking like the handset is set to be announced at the forthcoming CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas in early 2013.

Mobile Review claims the leaked images are an early version of the 5-inch screen-sporting smartphone, which means they expect the handset to have a few more tweaks before final release. However, one of the standout features of the phone is the large power/lock key, which appears on the side of the handset.

The handset has been seen before in a few leaked images and the Russian website in question has a very good track history with leaks and images, so all signs are positive.

Until the handset is launched officially all we can do is talk about the leaked images and expected specifications for the device, which include:

  • Full HD 5-inch display
  • 13MP camera
  • Quad-core processor

If correct, these specs alone would place the Yuga (hopefully not the launch name!) in the same bracket as the Android-running Galaxy Note II and the newly released HTC Butterfly.

Sony has been slowly stepping up its XPERIA Android phones over the last year and if the Xperia T is anything to go by, the Yuga looks set to be a real contender for our pockets.
