Vodafone have sent out an email to customers who have pre-ordered the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, bringing dreaded news of a postponed release date.
“An important update regarding your Sony Ericsson Xperia Play from Vodafone,” starts the email before adding the bad news:
“Sony Ericsson have advised us that they will not be able to supply the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to meet the original launch date of 1 April. Unfortunately, this means there will be a small delay to your order.
“We are working closely with Sony Ericsson to ensure your phone is delivered as soon as possible and we will be in touch again with specific timescales when we know more.
“We appreciate this is disappointing and are doing our very best to resolve this as quickly as possible.”
The network joins o2, who have also postponed the release of handset which was due for release this Friday. Unlike o2, however, Vodafone have been forced to postpone the handset due to their stock shipment not making it to the UK on time.
This news could cause a big drop in release day sales for Sony Ericsson, as that’s 2 out of the major 5 UK networks who won’t be able to supply the Xperia PLAY tomorrow.
Are you a Vodafone customer who’s willing to wait to get the handset? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook.
