Twitter on our mobile phones has been looking a little stale for a while now, but from today a new look will be hitting the popular social networking site for pocket gadgets.
The latest treat from Twitter for on the move micro-bloggers will see a refreshed interface – faster, smoother and taking full advantage of our smartphone features including touch gestures and large displays. Twitter is going all out to guarantee to its millions and millions of Tweetards worldwide that the mobile web experience will be “appier” (see what they did there?)
Familiar icons are now located at the bottom rather than the top of the screen which we are used to, but functions pretty much remain the same with easy access to timeline, conversations, mentions and trending topics. The Twitter webapp is expected to just look and run a whole lot better. Celeb stalkers should not be disappointed!
Backed by HTML5 the tweaked interface is expected to be compatible with most platforms, with iPhone and Android-enabled gadgets first in line for the facelift to rival Facebook – and this will become noticeable to pocket twitterphiles in the next few weeks.
You can read the official word from Twitter – in more than 140 characters – on the company’s blog site.
