The celebrations continue for the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda saga – and now this epically decorated Hyrule-inspired Nintendo 3DS console has been outted online today to be released in a bundle with popular re-release of Zelda title Ocarina of Time.
The stunning 3DS portable variant features a shiny black finish and intricate gold detailing – featuring familiar iconography from the legendary franchise and, of course, the tri-force symbol itself. The package is rumoured for release on November 25th (price TBC), accompanied by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS, which was originally released in 1998 for Nintendo 64 and got a three-dimensional make-over in mid-2011 on the innovative Nintendo handheld.
The adventure/puzzler is regarded as one of the greatest games, not only in the Zelda series, but of gaming history and the new Nintendo 3DS variant really celebrates that fact and delivers a treat for us nostalgic gamers currently swept up in the 25th Anniversary goodness which also includes a new Zelda title for Wii, entitled Skyward Sword, as well as live symphony orchestra performances of a quarter of a century’s worth of iconic soundtrack.
And there’s more to come – Nintendo has openly discussed the possibility of translating The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask across to the 3D platform, this pending on the success of Ocarina – so we’d imagine that’s a dead cert right now. There’s also been much talk about a reboot of the original Legend of Zelda arriving on both Nintendo 3DS and future release Wii U.
Nintendo is really rewarding its loyal fans at the moment. After a difficult opening season for the 3DS console, the roll out of classics will continue throughout the month with Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 just over the horizon – reading to join The Legend of Zelda in making history once more.
