A book charting the 27 year legacy of The Legend of Zelda has now scaled to the top of the reading chart at online retailer Amazon in the United States after an epic ninety-three weeks in the most-read 100.
After being released in the States and Japan in 2011 for the 25th Anniversary, Hyrule Historia has finally become published in the UK.
Produced by comic co. Dark Horse, Hyrule Historia features an introduction from the man who started it all, games designer Shigeru Miyamoto. The book is full of lavish graphic novel-style artwork based on the classic Nintendo saga and includes all the back stories and heroic adventures of Link and his quests to save Princess Zelda from the evil Ganondorf (often referred to simply as Ganon).
The book also reveals, for the first time, a chronology which shows us where each game falls into place in the grand scheme of the Zelda legacy – previously a very ambiguous area.
After the events of Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda storyline breaks into three different directions with A Link to the Past, The Wind Waker and Majora’s Mask all beginning separate timelines and sequences of events for child and adult Link.
The subject of when specific adventures take place after the multiple outcomes in Ocarina is much discussed between devoted gamers and finally Nintendo and Dark Horse provide the definitive guide within the glorious pages of Hyrule Historia.
The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia provides a most in-depth reference source for all the games in the series, from the very first on Nintendo Entertainment System to the portable platforms and the more modern day home consoles, all the way up to the Nintendo Wii. The book expands the fan experience with behind-the-scenes concept art and an exclusive comic by Zelda artist Akira Himekawa and this attractive hardbook can be picked up from Amazon in the UK today costing around £20 (or for equivalent amount of Rupees!)
