Android Movies arrives in the United Kingdom – Rentals now up for Google gadgets

Google has launched its Android Movies rental service in the United Kingdom offering a selection of around 1000 starting titles, including popular films both new and old.

Titles in the range include recent releases such as assassin thriller Hanna and adventure-driver The Fast and the Furious 5 or older faves like family classics The Karate Kid with prices starting from £2.49 up to £3.49 depending on age of the films and you’ll get 48 hours to view the movie within 30 days from time of purchase. Movie rentals will appear on the Google Checkout where payment will be taken and the movie will begin downloading.

The Android movie rental shop mirrors an earlier scheme available in the United States since May. The UK launch also follows recent Google Books earlier this month and precedes Google Music – which looks to bring Google to the forefront of media distribution online and a strong rival to Apple platforms such as iTunes.

Download the dedicated video app, then check out the selection and grab your first movie on your Android smartphone or tablet, with version 2.2 or higher, now from market.android.com/movies

Just add popcorn!
