It’s official. Apple has sent out the invites to the tech press for a big event on September 10th.
Just as predicted recently by AllThingsD, the Cupertino company will play host at another of its annual iPhone events a week today. And in typical Apple fashion, the announcement comes right in between some big announcements from a number of its rivals – Microsoft’s Nokia buyout today and Samsung’s new Galaxy Note III which is set to be unveiled tomorrow.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Apple event invite without some outlandish guessing and clue hunting. The tagline “this should brighten everyone’s day” along with the colourful circles in the image will of course read as a very unsubtle hint at the colourful iPhone 5C that we’ve seen plenty of recently. Yellow, purple, red, orange, green and pink are all potential colours for Apple’s plastic iPhone, with pictures already revealing a number of them.
The iPhone 5S is also expected to be revealed at the event, which itself could well gain another colour option. Asides from the standard black and white models, a special gold version is said to be in the works, sporting 128GB of internal storage to boot. We don’t however think that Apple will launch its new flagship phone in any of the bright colours on the invite.
The coloured circles also link in to iOS 7, Apple’s biggest change to its mobile operating system since the very beginning. The operating system will be live on the iPhone 5S and 5C and is expected to be launched as an upgrade for older devices close to the event, and is full of vibrant colours and new textures and effects.
Are you excited for September 10th or will this week’s IFA contain the news you’ve been waiting for?
