Google Voice app removed from iPhone App Store

Not yet using Google Voice? We would say that there’s never been a better time, but that’d just be a lie; Google’s VoIP app has been removed from the iPhone App Store after reports of crashing.

The Google Voice app had received an update this week to try and make it play nice with Apple’s iOS 5, but something hasn’t gelled, and scores of reviews have flooded in to suggest that the app’s crashing on iPhones sporting the newest operating system.

Google says: “our last update of this week had a bug that caused the app to crash at sign in. We removed it so it did not affect additional users until the fix gets published.” If you already have Google Voice, the latest version pre-update (1.3.0.1771) should still work to an extent, although you won’t be able to make outgoing calls. We suggest you hang tight. Let us know your thoughts on our comments below or via our @Gadget_Helpline Twitter page or Official Facebook group.
