Nintendo gamers leap for joy! Several online sources are claiming The Second Coming of the Wii is likely to be in stunning High-Definition!
Sales of the original gaming gadget are still good with prices cuts expected in May further fuelling rumour that the “Wii 2” will surface at the E3 conference in early June and despite reports the console will not run in 3D as previously speculated, Game Informer does suggest the next-gen Wii will be running at HD quality.
“We have confirmed with multiple sources that this new home system is capable of running games at HD resolutions. There are conflicting reports, however, as to whether its graphics will be comparable to those on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 – meaning it could surpass or fall short of those systems.” – says the magazine’s site.
Game Informer goes on to predict titles such as Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 make the leap to an HD Wii console, which would seem to allow the console a lot more versatility and freedom to step away from its solely kid-friendly mother-approved titles.
In addition, “well-placed international industry sources” have informed gaming website CVG that a future Nintendo console release will feature new hardware to dominate over PS3 and Xbox 360
The “Wii 2” or “Wii HD” is said to totally change the game with the introduction of a HD touchscreen built into the controller – which would complement gameplay like the second screen on the DS range, but kind of resemble a tablet similar to an iPad.
It’s again more speculation and rumour surrounding the next step for Nintendo, but it’s definitely exciting to think about. We’ll hopefully know for sure at the E3 conference 7-9 of June.
